About Me

Self publishing a novel

I always said I was going to write a novel, but for many years, I never got round to it. There was always something else to do. This year, I managed to actually do it, and while I can't say that I've picked up a huge book contract, I'm still pretty proud of the book I wrote so I'm self-publishing it and selling it to bookstores myself. It's a steep learning curve to work out how to get my book printed and working out all of the details of how the physical book will look. This website is a glimpse into the physical side of printing up your own self-published books for other new authors.

Why You Should Print a Colour Brochure for Your Business

by Lourdes Ramos

A brochure is an economical way to communicate your product or brand message. It can be used as a standalone sales tool or to supplement other marketing efforts. They are often a free promotional item given away in trade shows, and they may also be handed out at exhibitions, conventions and seminars. But how can you make your brochures more profitable for your business? A colour brochure may be the choice. Your competitors may already be printing their brochures in colour because of these four key benefits they offer, and so should you.

1. You'll grab more attention

Naturally, colour is more attention-grabbing than monochrome. As such, you can expect your colour brochure to make a far bigger impact on potential customers than a black and white one would. On top of this, colour allows you to highlight certain elements in your brochure, drawing attention exactly where it's most beneficial. For example, benefits and discounts will stand out a lot more when they're brightly coloured.

2. You'll look more professional

You can make your brochure look more professional by giving it a colour treatment. In general, colour brochures give off a more premium, polished appeal, and this reflects directly on your company itself. By printing a professionally designed brochure in full colour, you are telling the recipient that you are serious about your business and get enough business to fund your marketing efforts, acting as a form of social proof.

3. You'll communicate your product better

Using colour in a brochure shows consumers what they can do with a product or service. For example, you may want to use an array of colours to show the look, durability and design of each product model. Colour can also increase clarity, giving customers a better look at exactly what they're buying.

4.  You can use colour psychology

When you design and print a brochure in colour, you can take advantage of colour psychology. Different colours are believed to subconsciously convey different ideas, allowing you to boost your marketing efforts on a deeper level. Blue, for example, is said to inspire feelings of trust, making it perfect for a brochure—especially when you're selling high-ticket or high-tech items. Purple, meanwhile, is associated with dignity and esteem, so it's great for luxury brands. Since red is believed to give off feelings of excitement, use it to highly discounts and special offers. Each colour has its own meaning that you can use to your benefit.
